MK5 Crane Rail Pad between a rail and its support improves the performance of crane tracks.Cranes apply high forces to the structures on which they are mounted. The pad significantly reduces the stress between the rail and its support. The Forgesail pad is one of the three key ingredients in achieving a reliable track. These are: Resilient Pad, Strong- Adjustable Clips, Continuously Welded Rail.
FEATURES:
- This product is mainly developed for economical rail system, which has good ability to absorb shocks and noise while saving material.
- The rail pad needs to be used with the adjustable flexible plate assembly to evenly distribute the stress under the track foundation, which can improve the stability and durability of the track system.
- The tie plate has good compression resistance and wear resistance, and at the same time has good anti-corrosion and aging resistance. The service life is about 15 years, which reduces the maintenance cost of the track system.
- The economical rail system is only suitable for rail systems with small wheel pressure. For more details, please consult FORGESAIL for effective guidance.

Application of SINCHOLD MK5:
FORGESAIL 'flat' pad is suitable for all applications where soft mounting is required. Historically, pad was provided 1.5mm thicker at the centre than the edges due to the concave shape of the base of some rails. It has been shown that there is no significant benefit in using the 'crowned' pad.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
Rail pad should be narrower than the rail it supports (nominally by 5mm). The pad is normally supplied in 12 metre length. The flutes of the pad are placed facing upwards. The pad may be cut to precise length of rail. It can be cut with a hacksaw or jigsaw. No installed length of pad should be less than the spacing between three pairs of crane rail fixing clips. Before installing Mk 5 pad, the supporting area should be clean and free of oil, grease or any projections likely to damage the pad. It is preferable that the steel structure below the pad is not painted. If the rail is to be welded the pad should be protected from excessive heat during welding by being removed under the weld or by being protected with a thermal barrier. Our technical department will be pleased to advise on the suitability of Mk 5 pad in specific installation conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What material are your rail pads made of, and how do they perform?
A: Our rail pads are manufactured from high-quality nitrile rubber (NBR). We deliberately avoid styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) and ordinary recycled rubber, ensuring reliable mechanical performance and durability from the raw material itself — quality is guaranteed at the source.
Do your rail pads have a steel core?
A: Yes, all our rail pads are built with a steel core. By default, the steel core is fully encapsulated within the rubber. However, for customers who prefer an exposed steel core, we can also manufacture them that way. This flexibility is made possible by our in-house factory, which allows us to accommodate custom requirements.
How can I tell if a rail pad is of good quality?
A: You can assess raw material quality through simple checks such as inspecting the color and luster, or testing the smell when burned. We welcome customers to conduct their own testing and verification.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What material is the MK2 rail pad made of, and how durable is it in harsh environments?
A: The MK2 pad is manufactured from a premium EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate) copolymer. This material is inherently wear-resistant, durable, and unaffected by oil or ultraviolet exposure. It offers strong compression recovery, corrosion resistance, and long-term aging resistance, retaining its mechanical properties after years of service in demanding conditions. With a typical service life of approximately 15 years, the MK2 significantly reduces the long-term maintenance costs of your crane rail fastening system.
What are the main applications and suitable track systems for the MK2 pad?
A: The MK2 is engineered specifically for track systems installed on discontinuous steel sole plate foundations. It is widely used in automated warehousing, anti-settling rail systems, and economical light-duty crane tracks with low wheel pressure. For optimal performance, pair it with bolt-type clip assemblies such as the 3116/13/36, 3120/17/38, or 3124/20/42, which together substantially reduce track construction costs while fully meeting your application requirements.
What key functions does the MK2 pad serve within the rail system?
A: Structurally, the MK2 features two bosses at its front and rear ends that engage with the base steel plate as a locking mechanism, preventing longitudinal displacement during operation. Functionally, it absorbs shock and noise while dispersing wheel pressure evenly across the rail foundation, reducing stress on the track base and improving the overall stability and service life of the rail system. The MK2 is designed to work as part of a complete fastening package, so we recommend reviewing the full crane rail clip selection when configuring your track.
